Spheres of influence

Spheres of influence

Bubbles“When you want something, cast a spell for something; it does fill your own sphere. You send out fishing lines of energy to see if anyone responds and can help manifest this energy. It’s not like you took out a billboard on the side of Route 66; you are not recruiting for Amway. The energy of your spell is looking for a response and a way to manifest so it will test what and who you know first. Any intention you create needs the connection or influence of another body to manifest.

When you light a candle for love, you need another person to respond, or there is a lot of self loving going on in your sphere. Actually, you probably need a few other spheres of influence to introduce you to that new person.”

When you start to look at (Or if you are a Virgo, you start to chart) all of your relationships you see how they influence you and through that influence can change the course of your life. Imagine if you will, you are a bubble and there are no pins or sharp edges anywhere around you. As a bubble, you are part of a bubble collective and there are bubble all around you. The bubbles that are closest to you put the most pressure on your surface area. If one of those bubbles changes color you reflect that color or even absorb it.

How To Use the End of the Astrological Year to Transform Your Business PDF Print E-mail
Written by Storm Cestavani

Every beginning must have an end.  This reflects the astrological energy of the month of Pisces -- the sign known for its creative highs and dysfunctional lows completes the cycle that we call the astrological year. Astrologer Liz Greene calls Pisces the “cosmic dustbin” because it contains all the experiences (expressed and repressed) of all the other signs.  In business, the month of Pisces is the time for us to clean out the old and prepare for the new.  We let go of one year and open ourselves up to the future.

Your Astrological Action Points for March:

3/8  Full Moon in Virgo:  The Full Moon in Virgo reflects that it’s the astrological time of the year to put everything in order.  In folk life this is considered spring cleaning and it’s the time to get the ‘gobbly-gook’ out of the way in order to prepare for the Sun moving into Aries later in the month.  In our business, we can use this as a time to clean out everything that is not working and replace them with “systems” (a lovely Virgo word) that do.  Further, the sign of Virgo naturally has an association with employees.   Use this time to create better employee relationships that allow you and those that work with you to enter spring on a clean slate.

3/12  Mercury Retrograde in Aries:  Yes, the cosmic trickster is at it again.  It’s time to back up our computers, burn Van Van candles, prepare for equipment to break down, and communications to go insane.   This Mercury retrograde begins in the sign of Aries and will go back again into Pisces before it turns direct in April.

So, how do we work with Mercury retrograde in Aries?  The keyword for every Mercury retrograde is “reflect” – or any other word that starts with the prefix‘re’.  While Mercury is retrograde in Aries, it is time for us to focus on ourselves (Aries) and our own development.   Although Aries is known for its careless, impatient, and combative behaviors when frustrated, we can use these moments when we feel thwarted to reflect on where our frustrations lie and how to work with them in a more productive manner.

Suggested Resource:  Marie Forleo  -- Marie has an incredible feature called Q&A Tuesday on her website that helps you in your position as a business person.

3/12 Mars-Jupiter-Pluto Grand Tine in Earth –   Although I do not see the economy recovering for some time (we need to get through the Uranus-Pluto squares first), I do believe this grand trine in earth reflects a moment where we can begin to start taking action rather than watching in shock and horror.   Grand earth trines are known for their “lucky” nature, yet anyone who has been in business knows that a “lucky moment” may have occurred because of ten years of hard labor.  We can utilize this energy to begin to manage our business more effectively.  After all, putting things in order will in order will increase your orders!

Suggested Resource for Content:  Copyblogger – Great resource for online marketing ideas.

3/22 New Moon in Aries – As the Sun moves into Aries on Ostara and the smell of fresh grass, fresh flowers, and fresh air permeate our senses, the Moon will quickly conjoin with the Sun.  The New Moon in Aries is one of the most powerful New Moons of the year and it reflects the emergence of new patterns and a new six month cycle.   The Aries New Moon (in the Northern Hemisphere) projects us outward rather than inward and we notice our lives filled with the energy and exuberance at the promise of possibilities.  On the business level, we can utilize this energy to seek out fresh new perspectives in our business and begin to plant the seeds for a prosperous new astrological year.

Suggested Resource for understanding online business and how to use it effectively:  Social Triggers

In closing, I would like to thank all my business readers over the past year.  This column will enter into a new phase next month and I plan to make some changes (focus on different areas to improve your business using astrology) in the content to make it fresh and updated.  I could not have done this column without the wonderful notes from those I have inspired, and those who have had their businesses flourish by listening to the stars.

See you next month!

The root of it changes everything, what is in a word PDF Print E-mail
Written by Jacki Smith
Monday, 20 February 2012 00:00

I have been playing with words lately, words that have lost their true meaning along the way words that have been tainted by meanings that are negative and repressive, words that lose their healing messages along the way.  I started playing with words whose meanings escape me and where I cannot connect to their value in my life.

 Forgive

Judgment

Righteousness

Justice

If you notice, these are words used in the bible quite a bit, and I think that is where they first lost their true meaning.  When the leader wants to control the flock they manipulate the words and give them new meaning that perpetuates the propaganda that promotes their way of thinking.  Let’s erase that history and start looking at the root of the words and garner their true and original meaning.

Forgive – it seemed to be the spiritual buzz word of 2011 and is propelling itself into 2012 with the same status, but what does it really mean?  Meditate on forgiveness has been the spiritual prescription bantered about online and in the recently published.  Forgive yourself is a big one in my life and the theme of many healing sessions.  Yet my question remains the same – what does forgiveness really mean?

Modern gurus talk about letting go of the hate and anger, filing your heart with God and letting yourself float free of this feeling.  Yet others talk about forgiveness as a type of absolution, asking for healing for the other party.  These are all large goals, but don’t give a starting point that your emotions can grab onto.  To give myself (and you) a starting point I looking into the root words, the etymology of forgive.

“for” – it is the front, beginning, before – but it also holds the root meaning of away, opposite and completely.

“give” – taking, holding, influencing is one meaning, as is to yield, run out, break down and even announce.

If you look at these root meanings forgive is a movement of sort, it is a bending away from what is in front of you.  It is before one is influenced or before one takes hold.   To forgive is to remove the influence that has hurt you, going back to a time before that influence took hold and bending out of the way.

In other words, it’s about not taking it personally.  When you forgive, you release the hold you have on the energy that is harming you – whether it is your energy or someone else’s.  When you refuse to forgive, you are holding onto that energy and allowing it to define you.  When you forgive, you choose your own personal definition of who you are.

Judgment –  This used to be one of my nemesis tarot cards.  When this card came up I cringed because I just couldn’t wrap my brain around it.  I always think of the negative side of judgment; when you are a chubby, geeky, awkward kid you are always feeling judged by others.  To me Judgment meant that I would never measure up to what I “should” be.

When I looked up the root words for judgment I was freed a bit by understanding that this is not what I needed to measure up to, but what was the culmination of experiences.

“judge” – law, opinion, officiating, presiding over

“ment” – and act, condition, result of an action

Judgment feels like law and punishment.  When you look at law really as a collective agreed upon opinions about behavior that changes the meaning once again.   Based on it’s origin, Judgment is casting an opinion on a series of actions – so the judgment of others don’t matter because they can never understand the whole of you.  To judge another is just your opinion, so stop taking yourself so seriously.

When you are in judgment of yourself you are assessing your own actions and behaviors and coming to a conclusion. (Sometimes your logic is flawed and you need a new perspective.)  When you free yourself of that idea that once cast, judgment can never be reversed; you are also free to forgive past behaviors and choices.  Today you have a new piece of information that lends a new perspective.

Righteous – This word sends shivers down my spine.  I hear preachers talk of the righteous and I think, someone is about to be cast as evil to balance out that word!  Through the centuries the righteous felt that eradicating the evil they saw what their duty and right making this word ripe for perversion.

Today this word is defined as free from guilt, moral and virtuous. The etymology for righteous comes from the Old English rihtwīs, meaning right wise; where is doesn’t necessarily mean guilt free.

“right” – rules, laws, being morally correct (or opposite of left) is the first meaning, but the meaning goes further back to mean it fits, settles in, proper and straight.

“-ous” – this suffix is about abundant.  To add this to a word means it is full of, abounding, having, in possession of and qualities like.

When we look at righteous in this new (or shall we say original) light, its meaning is filled with personal empowerment.  It is about fitting into your own moral code and being filled with your own power.  I can see how this word can quickly turn onto something that is oppressive.  When you are being righteous, it really only applies to you.  When a leader is being righteous, it means that they are connected to and promoting the virtues and wishes of group.  Of THAT group, meaning that other groups will be righteous in their own morals.

Righteous can be a very healing word if used to find your own core self and follow your own destiny, it can be destructive when you use that word against others with misplaces judgment.

Justice – Again we think of the law, any law and the justice it wields.  Many people make justice synonymous with vengeance, and in many ways it can be.   To look at the root of the word you will find a different story.

“just” – comes from the root junct, to join.

“-ice” – means to act.

Justice means joining in action, it does not mean “joining in action to perpetuate a punishment that would make you feel better about the hurt you are experiencing.”   Conversely when things are feeling un-just, you are feeling left out.  Justice is the sweet acceptance of others that hold a similar moral code or righteousness.   When you are energetically seeking justice, you are searching for the divine inclusion into your life to set things right.  But once the deed is done, can anything ever be set right.   This is how we wrap ourselves full circle back to Forgive.

Justice is when we join in action, making Justice more of a cultural word than an individual one.

These words teach us that all the power to change our own world, lies in our own hands.  These words show us that when we apply our moral code to our own actions we are empowered, yet when we apply them outside of ourselves, we can quickly turn to oppressors.

Happy word-ery!

Sanity savers for Parents PDF Print E-mail

altThere are quite a few tricks available that will ensure mommy (and daddy)  time is held sacred by the family, that are quite good for the family and you won’t feel guilty about doing them.

Here are my three favorites, Bach Flower Remedies in spray bottles and juice boxes, creating a Sacred Space at home and Homeopathy in your first aid kit.

Bach Flower essences are fantastic ways to support behavior shifts in your children that are noninvasive, loving and nonjudgmental. Make up a spray bottle for each of the remedies your family seems to need and keep them handy.  Place 5 drops of Bach flower essence into a spray bottle of distilled water and spray the room liberally when needed.

Chicory is for children who are bickering or fighting over toys or for your little one who is constantly demanding attention and clingy.

Spray a little Hornbeam around for the child who can’t seem to get motivated in the morning because the idea of going to school just exhausts them.

Holly is for sibling rivalry and jealousy.

Impatiens is for your overactive child who can’t seem to sit still. This remedy will help to slow junior down and get into bed and fall asleep.  I also used reiki to ground and calm my kids and get them to fall asleep.

Children who are bossy or a bully will chill and be more respectful and less harsh of others with a few drops of Vine Remedy in their juice box.

Elm is for mom.  A few drops of elm in your water will help you come back down to earth when the responsibility of being a working mom overwhelms you.  You can get back into the day to day and let go of the focusing on the big picture to much.

Wild Oat is for your teenager who is picking a direction in life and can’t seem to decide or is at a cross road.  Give wild oat to your teenager when the prospect of making a life choice is to daunting.

Separation anxiety? Aspen (the quaking leaf tree) helps your child settle down after a bad dream, and creates inner peace, security and fearlessness.  Aspen helps them access their own courage and confidence.

Setting up sacred spaces at home promotes a scream free zone and uninterrupted mommy or daddy time.  We all need peace and quiet, but when the kids or partners are feeling that loss because you need some time to yourself, this daily practice will really help every member of the family feel love and supported while you are not available.

The cone of divine silence:  In the morning before the day starts, visualize your home in a beam of light shining down on your home from above and up from below.  Invite the guardian angel of each member of the family to ground and center each of their people and walk with them all day.  Invite Archangel Michael to protect the home and every member of the family from negative energy and release all attachments on you and your children that have accumulated throughout the day as everyone walks through the door at the end of their day.  Ask the angels help your sacred space become a sanctuary for your family by clearing your home of any residual unhappy feelings left over from previous days and filling it with unconditional love.  Renew this sacred space every morning before you get out of bed. You can support this loving energy by placing rose quarts around your home.

A list of Must have Homeopathic remedies for your first aid kit. Homeopathy is very easy to administer to your children because it has a gentle almost sweet taste.  No screwed up faces and fighting to get them to take this remedy.  Remember to keep this and all medicine out of the reach of children.  You can find homeopathic remedies at the health food store.  You can get yourself a book or follow the suggestions on the label.  Boiron is a popular brand and has made putting homeopathy in your first aid kit extremely easy.  Here is a short list of what I keep available at my home.alt
